The thyroid is often the source of disturbances in the endocrine system. There are many diseases and disorders which can be responsible, but here are some of the most common ones:

• Hyperthyroidism: This disease is the result of the thyroid gland producing to much thyroid hormone. The thyroid is overactive, which can cause symptoms such as sudden and extreme weight loss, tremors, rapid and irregular heartbeat as well as anxiety.
